EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Melissa joined BDO Taranaki full time in 2014 after initially joining the firm in 2010 as a student intern whilst completing her studies. Melissa was made an associate on 1 January 2023.
Melissa was born and bred in Taranaki before moving to Wellington where she gained a Bachelor of Commerce Majoring in Accounting and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Science at Victoria University. Melissa qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2016.
Melissas focus is on working to help both Agri and Commercial business gain valuable insights and efficiencies though the use of technology. She specialises in assisting clients with systems reviews and implementing updated or enhanced systems to help their businesses excel. Melissa uses her experience as a Chartered Accountant to ensure that software is utilised to meet the businesses needs as well as makes compliance needs as straight forward as possible.
Melissa also has a focus in Māori business and Not-for-Profits where she has worked with a number of local organisations on their compliance reporting as well as regular budgeting to assist boards in making timely decisions that will help them to continue serving their communities.
Outside of life at BDO, Melissa enjoys taking part in musicals including many shows for New Plymouth Operatic Society and 4th Wall Theatre.
