IFRS Advisory Virtual Workshops

 

Join BDO’s IFRS Advisory experts for BDO’s virtual training workshops that delve into the topical accounting standard application issues of the day to get organisations ‘reporting date ready’.

The workshops are designed to be live training events that are facilitated by BDO’s IFRS Advisory experts, using practical case studies and examples to explore NZ IFRS topics in detail together with attendees.

Each attendee will receive:

  • A participant’s workbook with practical case studies delivered prior to the commencement of the session
  • A solutions workbook upon completion of the course, and
  • Presentation slides.

These workshops will also qualify as verifiable CPD hours towards CAANZ and other professional memberships.

The workshops are ideal for those involved in the financial reporting aspects of NZ IFRS reporting entities, such as Chief Financial Officers, Financial Controllers, Finance Managers, Accountants, Auditors, persons involved in any aspects of financial or corporate reporting (including Directors).

Session 1 – Accounting for loan renegotiations, government stimulus measures and impairment testing

Through the use of multiple practical case studies and interactive activities, attendees will gain an in-depth knowledge of accounting for:

  • Modifications of financial assets and liabilities, including renegotiated repayment terms on loans
  • The impact of COVID-19 on accounting for trade receivables and ECL (i.e. debtor provisioning) balances
  • Impairment testing of non-financial assets, including right-of-use assets from leases

  • An associate becoming a subsidiary
  • A subsidiary becoming an equity investment under NZ IFRS 9, and
