7p Diagnostic Tool – Helping optimise your businesses for the new reality
As New Zealand businesses navigate the wake of COVID-19, their ability to adapt will be key. Many will have paused to reconsider the obvious business impacts, but have you truly tested your strategy against local and global benchmarks? Do you have a full understanding of the core business functions (internal factors) impacted by the global pandemic which need to be optimised and realised?
What is the 7p model?
BDO’s 7p diagnostic model helps assess your business performance, market position and determine if you need to Rethink your strategy, by cross-checking you are focusing on the priority business areas.
The 7p tool analyses your business in line with the seven core business functions that the global pandemic has impacted. These are the internal factors that need to be optimised – and realised - in order to ensure that an organisation can successfully adapt to the new reality.
How it works
The 7p model survey takes 10 minutes to complete. Within one hour of completing the survey, respondents will receive a notification e-mail containing a unique response ID and invitation to view their results on the benchmarking site.
The 7p model diagnostic tool has been launched exclusively by BDO across its global network and features a sizeable pool of overseas respondents to benchmark against. As the New Zealand sample of 7p survey respondents grows, businesses will soon also benefit from the opportunity to benchmark against other local businesses within similar characteristics.

What’s the secret to 7p?
Your 7p diagnostic report can offer fascinating insights into your business. However, extra value often comes from the stimulus it provides business leaders to take time out from their busy roles to reflect with others (directors, executives, colleagues, business advisers) and discuss what findings might mean:
- How have your business needs in relation to the 7p focus areas changed in the wake of COVID-19?
- What strategic changes are required for your business to successfully adapt?
Your usual BDO contact, or a BDO business advisor in your region, can help you to interpret your results, advising you on the best course of action. Please contact us to discuss your next steps in adapting successfully to the new reality’s ways of working.
