Retirement from BDO Invercargill - Diane Thornbury

11 February 2021

It is with great regret that we inform you of the retirement of Diane Thornbury from being a Partner of the BDO Invercargill Partnership. This retirement is due solely to health reasons.

Diane has made a tremendous contribution to not only BDO Invercargill, but also to our national firm and to the wider business community. During the 11 years of partnership, she has been a member of the BDO New Zealand National Board, has participated in a range of our national sector specific groups, and has been the driving force in the establishment of interest groups in our local business community. She has been the epitome of our exceptional client service ethos, with the interests of clients being at the centre of all that she does.

Diane suffered a health incident in late 2018, and despite the best endeavours, the advice from her medical practitioners has been that continuing with the demands of the work environment would not be conducive for her ongoing cardiovascular health.

Diane’s retirement is effective from 31 December 2020, and plans are in place with the remaining Partners of BDO Invercargill, Greg Thomas, Aaron Higham and myself, for the smooth transition of client responsibilities. These responsibilities and relationships will be with Greg and myself. We will be ably supported by the very capable team here at BDO Invercargill.

The emphasis for Diane must be on her health management, but it may be possible that, in limited circumstances, she will be able to continue with some client engagements and assist with the smooth transition as a consultant to BDO Invercargill.
