It’s exciting to see tourism growing again in New Zealand following the COVID-19 pandemic and your business needs to be prepared for this. We'll help you to navigate the changes presented by the expected increase in visitors from China, as well as other aspects of the industry such as sports tourism and the social economy. We understand this industry inside and out, which is why we're in the best position possible to help you seize the important business opportunities presented by these changes.

We’re proud to be a sponsor of Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA). We work closely with tourism businesses and industry bodies to share insights and champion ways to grow sustainable business models, for a stronger tourism industry. This includes helping businesses to ensure they are maintaining the quality of their services while making the most out of the resurgence in tourist numbers.

Importantly, we understand that tourism is a people industry. We place strong value on our sector relationships and the wellbeing of the business leaders who are its backbone. Through our Wellbeing in Tourism report, a component of our biannual BDO Wellbeing & Business Performance Index, we share insights and tips for tourism business leaders on how to effectively navigate the financial challenges which can so often negatively impact wellbeing.Tourism is an exciting sector to be involved in and we’re excited to help your business reach its goals. We welcome you to get in touch today.

What sets BDO's tourism advisory services apart?

New Zealand is now a household name and the New Zealand brand is reaching more countries than ever. Growing businesses need all the help they can get, and BDO’s national tourism sector team are committed to sharing our specialist industry advice in helping kiwi businesses compete with the best in the world.

We relish our long term client relationships. Some of our clients have been with us for over 20 years. In growing our relationship with your tourism business and helping it succeed, our BDO Partners will provide specialist local advice, supported by our global network.  We've got all the advantages of a leading global firm - with offices in over 160 countries - along with nationwide coverage across our 20 NZ offices; maintaining the personal involvement of a passionate, local business. We always ensure we spend time getting to know our clients, in order to give them the best advice possible.

We can assist you with a wide range of issues, spanning compliance, risk management and strategy. Our network of firms is spread up and down the country. This means, more often than not, we've got people on the ground no matter where your organisation might be - and it also means we have access to a range of data and expertise from across New Zealand. This, combined with the many years our Partners have worked in the industry, gives us a level of insight not often available from other firms.

What our clients think...

We have been working with BDO locally for the past three years and internationally for the past seven years. During that time, in New Zealand we have developed from managing a hotel in Queenstown to acquiring that hotel, opening a new hotel in Auckland and signing another Auckland hotel to open in 2018. Internationally we have grown from 65 hotels and projects in 2010 to over 145 hotels and projects with 24,000 rooms in 21 countries.

Due to our global expansion we appreciate that BDO is international and can assist us wherever in the world we need them.
