Discovering the Region with the BDO Tour of Northland

09 March 2020

Discovering the Northland region with BDO Whangarei and four days of cycling. 2020 marks the 20th edition of the BDO Tour of Northland, which sees riders of all abilities, from across New Zealand and throughout the World, come together to take part in a four day cycling occasion.

Each year approximately 300 riders, including 25 BDO cyclists, take on the region’s largest cycling event, riding as individuals or in teams of 5. The event ran by Dynamo Events, starts in Whangarei and follows Northland’s fully sealed Twin Coast Discovery Highway, stopping in Russell, Paihia, Opononi and Darvagville, before looping back round to the Whangarei finish line.

BDO has proudly sponsored this event for many years. BDO Whangarei partners, Scott Kennedy and Adelle Allbon say the event fits well with their pledge to back people in and out of the office.

What BDO Whangarei enjoy most about their Tour of Northland sponsorship, is how it helps bring BDO staff members from across the country and BDO clients together, many of whom are passionate cyclists. During the 2019 event BDO Partner Scott Kennedy and BDO Whangarei client Peter Dainty, director of Guyco Kitchens, took out the competition with the help of their team: BDO Cycling Ambassador Jorja Swain, Kevin Mackenzie, Murray Healey and Hamish Pederson. Their group 2 team took home the title of the overall fastest team.

Like many of the BDO offices across New Zealand, BDO Whangarei’s commitment to cycling begins with their youngest riders. They proudly support young cycling talent across the Northland region and offer support to their three BDO cycling ambassadors: Jorja Swain, Kurt Coetzee and Trevor Coetzee, who represent the region in various events throughout the country and in some cases around the world.

The team at BDO Whangarei look forward to this year’s event and wish all the cyclists participating the best of luck over the four day challenge.
