Panhead Custom Ales are the boutique beer brewers of Upper Hutt, their veins flowing with a combustible mix of heavily hopped ale and 95 unleaded. Owner and Head Brewer Mike Neilsen brings a hotrodder’s sensibility to the brewhouse, his respect for the classics allied with an endless compulsion to experiment. As a result the Panhead line-up features both brilliant expressions of the basic styles and limited releases where pretty much anything goes.

Since their first brewing line in 2013, the team at BDO has been helping Panhead Brewery steer their fast growing business. And the proof is in the results with Panhead Custom Ales taking out the country’s best beer category in the Society of Beer Advocates (SOBA) awards for two years running with their Supercharger APA (2015) and Vandal IPA (2014). Big things are ahead for Panhead in 2016 with plans to set to expand their site to include a tasting room, 300 litre test brewery kit and canning and bottling lines to meet the increasing demand across New Zealand and Australia. Our BDO team will be backing them all the way.
